1. How to Create an Amazing Instagram Picture & Post
The cool thing about Instagram is that it allows anyone to become an artist. The app itself is great for editing, and there is an abundance of additional apps to boost your creativity.
A few big mistakes marketers make with their pictures are:
#1 – Overusing inspirational meme pictures instead of branding themselves.
#2 – Not using the editing tools to their full potential, which leads to a boring image
I play around with all the filters AND the settings (brightness, contrast, shadows, etc.) before publishing any post.
Here are a few of my Instagram photos that performed very well using the apps above plus the filters and settings:
Don’t be afraid to spend extra time getting the perfect shot and writing a dense post. Sometimes, I take 20-30 shots before I get one I really love.
Also, these pictures did well because of the picture AND the post.
I want to stress how important it is brand YOU on Instagram. Instagram lets you caption posts up to 2,200 characters.
Take advantage of this by sharing your story, how you overcame adversity, before and after transformations, breakthroughs, and lifestyle. Then you can wrap your products and services around your stories.
Most marketers aren’t using up the text box, and their posts aren’t adding to their brand.
The key is having pictures that brand YOU and then weaving in aspirational stories that make you relatable.
This is what gets people to say, “I like this person. He’s/She’s real.”

2. How To Get Leads on Instagram Using “Honey Pots”
A Honey Pot is a personalized value info-gift, or a simple “how-to” do something in your BIO.
Here’s two examples of “honey-pots” I’ve used in my bio:
This first one drives people to free content on my blog. I give away value in advance to gain people’s trust first, and then I offer free honey-pots within my content to build my email list.
The honey pot offer is my “5-Step Blogging Cheatsheet” that teaches people how to generate 5-10 leads per day with a blog.
When someone clicks on the website link, they are taken to a squeeze page where they have to enter in their email address to receive the honey pot training.
Here’s what that looks like:
Your email list is your money tree as an online marketer.
According to MarketingDonut, only 2% of sales occur on the first meeting, so multiple follow ups are critical.
This also protects your business in cases where Instagram shuts down, becomes obsolete, or if your audience stops using the platform.
But you will always own your email list and all the leads on it.
The people who subscribe to your email list can become lifetime buyers, business partners, and even friends.
Amateur marketers are focused on getting more “likes” and more “followers” but “likes” and “followers” DO NOT equal more money. More LEADS equal more MONEY.
I create all my squeeze pages using a service called Clickfunnels.
So, whatever niche you’re in, think of a honey pot offer that you could give away for free to build your email list.
For example, if you’re in the fitness niche, you could create a honey pot such as “Free 2-min video: Discover My 5 Weight Loss Tips to Shedding 10lbs in 30 Days.”
Then you would throw that in your Instagram bio and have a link to a squeeze page where someone has to “pay” with their email to get your video.
This one secret alone will get you more leads on Instagram than 99% of marketers.
3. How To Automate Your Instagram Efforts with Technology
Instagram can be a big time suck if you’re scrolling all day “liking” and leaving comments.
So let technology do it instead.
I use a service called Instagress to run for 12 hours at a time. It’s a software that will do the #hashtag hunting for you, “like” photos and leave comments on hundreds of profiles.
This frees up your time to focus on more important income producing activities.
I only spend 30ish minutes crafting a great picture and post, and then I let Instagress do all the marketing for me.
You can customize Instagress so that it only “likes” and comments on profiles that match your hungry buyer, or customer avatar.
I target hashtags that internet and network marketers would use. Here’s a sneak peak at mine:
Typically, when someone “likes” or comments on my picture, I will click on their profile and check them out.
So when we “like” and comment on other profiles, they will check us out.
And if you follow steps 1 & 2, you will have a collage of beautiful images that tell your story, PLUS a sweet honey pot offer that is irresistible to your hungry buyer.
So they come to your profile, experience your brand, click the link in your bio…
You have a new lead into your email list that you can follow up with, build a relationship with, and promote your products and services to.
