How to Make Money Online Doing What You Love
I’m Tim Alwell and I’m just your typical 26 year old guy who was tired of the 9-5 grind and working for the weekends, so I set off to fire my boss and create a sustainable business working from my laptop.
I spent 3 years bouncing from job to job and nothing ever clicked. I knew the right job wasn’t out there for me; I had to create it myself.
I immersed myself in the online marketing profession in early 2014 while I was still working my day job. I quickly realized the potential and went all-in.
I’m not one to reinvent the wheel. I got off to a quicker start than most because I aligned with mentors who already had the success I desired and I simply replicated what they did.
That’s not to say things were easy. There was a huge learning curve I had to go through considering I was a complete newbie to this world, but I accepted the short-term sacrifice and focused on the long-term gain.
In fact, I am still learning new things everyday. Education never ceases to exist.
So if you are completely new to online marketing then you’ve come to the right place. Just follow the steps on this page and you will be up and running fast.
After you go through all the steps, subscribe to my email newsletter to get my step-by-step blueprint on how to make money online.
Step #1 is to start a blog.
You’re probably asking, “Why blogging, Tim?”
Here is my answer.
Blogging is one of the most effective ways to market ANYTHING online. It is your central hub where people go to learn about you, learn from you, and buy whatever it is that you are selling.
A blog is how you establish yourself as a leader within your niche.
Every successful internet marketer has a website.
I’m not talking about a Blogger or Tumblr blog either. You won’t own your blog which means you have limited control over the functionality and customization.
The domain name shows up ugly as well (tipsfromtim.tumblr.com OR tipsfromtim.blogspot.com).
We want to brand ourselves and have full ownership and control of our website.
How to Create Your Blog
The first step is to get a domain and hosting.
A domain is the actual name of your website (e.g. tipsfromtim.com) and hosting is what allows your site to actually show up on the internet.
I use GoDaddy to purchase most of my domains because you can get them for super cheap (usually less than $10 a year). They also have great customer service.
Choosing a domain name is up to you. You can use your name (timalwell.com) or you can be creative with your branding (tipsfromtim.com).
The next step is to get hosting for our blog.
I use Hostgator because you get a reliable service at a cheap price, and they have great customer service (24/7 online chat support and phone #).
You can get a domain name along with hosting if you want to knock out 2 birds with 1 stone (recommended).
Perfect. Now it’s time to head over to my How to Start a Blog Tutorial, which will give you a step-by-step guide on how to start a blog and how to make money with your blog.
